Drawing - Exploring Line

In art, we’ve been learning to create different types of lines:

  • horizontal lines
  • vertical lines
  • diagonal lines
  • wavy lines
  • cross-hatched lines
  • broken lines

After exploring making different types of lines using string, pencil and chalk, we placed all of our chalk drawings together, edge to edge, to make one big line drawing collage, in the style of the modern artist Bridget Riley.

Learning outcomes:

I can describe the lines in the work of an artist and in my own work

I can understand that there are different types of lines and can experiment with different resources to create them

I can hold a pencil and chalk in different ways to experiment with the line I create and work in the style of the modern artist
