Baptism

Year One Church Visit

Holy Family School’s Year One children visited Holy Family Church in Patchway, to explore the signs and symbols of the Sacrament of Baptism through role play.

Children were chosen to play the part of parents and god parents as they acted out the ceremony, whilst the rest of the class played the part of family and friends in the congregation. It made everyone smile when the proud 'parents' decided to name the baby George. The children enjoyed the visit immensely, especially the part when Father Eugene poured holy water on George the doll's head and then dried his hair with a towel!

The teachers and children were very grateful for Father Eugene giving his time in this way. It was the perfect opportunity to consolidate the children’s learning in RE and an experience they will remember.
