Holy Family Catholic Primary School

Year 2 – Saint Francis of Assisi

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope your children have enjoyed their first few days back. We are really looking forward to welcoming them into their new Year 2 classroom on Monday.

This year, just to remind you, Mr Handley will be teaching your children on a Monday and Tuesday and he will then hand over to Mrs England for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Collins will return to school after October half term and will take over from Mr Handley. Mrs Maccallam and Mrs Crofts will be assisting in the classroom every day.

Our PE day this term, will be on a Thursday so please send your children in wearing their PE kit on this day. They can wear black or navy jogging bottoms either over or instead of their white shorts, as the weather gets colder. They will also have an active lunchtime club on a Wednesday but they do not need to wear their PE kit for this. Just a reminder that earrings should either not be worn on a PE day or a plaster put over them.

Please also bring wellington boots to be left at school, if you have not done so already.

Reading books need to be brought in on a Friday to enable us to keep them over the weekend and changed on a Monday. It would be fantastic if you could read with your child as often as possible at home and ask them questions about what they have read.

Your child will continue to have weekly spellings to learn and they will also begin to bring home times table practice sheets. By the end of Year 2, your child is expected to confidently know their 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables so any practice with these will really help.

Just a reminder that whilst restrictions are in place, the Year 2 drop off place is at the back gate at 8.50am and collection, again at the back gate, at 3.10pm.

If you have any questions or concerns, do let us know.

Best wishes

Mrs England, Mr Handley, Mrs Maccallum and Mrs Crofts
