Year 2 – Saint Francis of Assisi

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a great summer. Our class is called Saint Francis of Assisi.

Joining Mrs Ives on the teaching team will be Mrs Szabo as the classroom teaching assistant. Mrs Szabo will be in class each morning. 

For your information, children in year 2 will have PE lessons on a Monday and Tuesday and PE kits (a red t-shirt, white shorts and plimsolls) should be in school at all times. Wellington boots can be left in school on the boot rack outside the classroom (same as year 1). Please ensure that all items of clothing and footwear are labelled clearly with your child’s name.

Reading books will be collected on a Monday morning and will be handed back to the children the following day. The children will need their books in school every day and it would be fantastic if you could read with your child as regularly as possible at home and ask questions about the books they have read to help them understand the content. 

Your child will have weekly spellings to learn and will be sent home with a number bonds/ multiplication sheet which they will work through at their own pace and achieve rewards as they learn them. Occasionally, the children will have homework tasks to do. 

Children will come into school through the Forest School entrance between years 4 and 6 and will be picked up via the same door.

Please don’t hesitate to make an appointment to see me if you have any issues you would like to discuss. Additionally, if anyone can spare their time to volunteer in school and hear readers please get in touch.
