Holy Family Catholic Primary School

Year 2 – Saint Francis of Assisi

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a great Christmas break.

Just a reminder that your teaching team is Mrs Ives supported by Mrs Szabo as the Teaching Assistant.  Mrs Szabo will be in class each morning.

For your information, children in Year 2 will have P.E. lessons on a Monday and Tuesday.  PE kits should be in school at all times.  Wellington boots can be left in school on the boot rack in the KS1 outside area.

Reading books are be changed every Monday.  The children need their books in school every day and it would be fantastic if you could read with your child as regularly as possible at home and ask questions about the books they have read to help them understand the content.

Your child will continue to have weekly spellings to learn and will be sent home with a number bonds/multiplication sheet which they will work through at their own pace and achieve rewards as they learn them. Parents are encouraged to come in on Thursday mornings from 9.05-9.15 to practise times tables with their children.  The children are expected to confidently know their 2, 5, 10 and 3 times-tables by the end of year 2.

Please don’t hesitate to make an appointment to see me if you have any issues you would like to discuss.  Additionally, if anyone can spare their time to volunteer in school and hear readers please do get in touch.

Best wishes,

Mrs Ives and Mrs Szabo
