Year 4 – St Teresa of Calcutta
Welcome to the Year 4 Class page
Welcome back to Holy Family and welcome to Year 4, St Teresa of Calcutta! The children have had an excellent start to term, and have returned with fantastic attitudes towards their learning.
Please see below for some important points to help you and your child settle into Year 4.
Spellings will be taught by the class teacher. Homework will be given out via ‘Spelling Shed’, and the children will be expected to log on and practice their spellings. There will be no spelling tests, instead I will look for evidence of their spelling throughout their work. The children have logins for Spelling Shed – please message me on class dojo if you need another copy.
Reading books will be collected in on Tuesdays to be changed on Wednesday morning. To record reading this year, we are using GoRead. It is vital your child reads as often as possible at home (with an adult) to help their reading progress. Please ensure reading is recorded online - this can be signed on GoRead by child or parent.
Times tables will be crucial this year as the children will have a times table check at the end of year 4. Children should practice their times tables as often as possible. I would encourage using TT rockstars to help with this.
PE will be taught on a Monday and Wednesday. Please continue to send your child in with their full PE kit on these days. Swimming starts on Tuesday 5th October.
My planning and preparation time will be on a Monday afternoon, children will be taught by Mrs Daniels, as well as having signature sports. They will also be taught by Mrs Cross on a Tuesday afternoon.
I will be updating you with messages, pictures and news on Class Dojo. Please do not hesitate to message me on Class Dojo for any reason, no matter how small.
I hope we have a fantastic year!
