PE & Sport Premium
Our PE & Sport Premium 2025-26
At Holy Family Catholic Primary School, we believe that PE and sport can change lives for the better. They help children to grow in confidence, stay healthy in body and mind, and learn important life skills such as teamwork, resilience and perseverance. This links closely to our school mission:
“Always our best for God, each other and ourselves.”
What is the PE & Sport Premium?
Every year, the Government provides funding to primary schools to make lasting improvements to PE, sport and physical activity. In 2025-26, schools in England will again share £320 million. This helps us to:
-
Improve the quality of our PE lessons.
-
Provide a wide range of clubs and activities.
-
Make sure all children, including those with additional needs, have the chance to take part.
-
Encourage children to be active every day, both in and out of lessons.
Why is it important?
National research shows that many children are not getting the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Being active doesn’t just make us fitter – it helps with learning, behaviour, friendships, and overall well-being. For some children, especially those who are disadvantaged or have special educational needs, PE is a key opportunity to build confidence and experience success.
Our Commitments for 2025-26
This year, we are using the funding to:
-
Include everyone – making sure PE is fun, engaging and accessible to all pupils, including girls, children with SEND and those from different cultural backgrounds.
-
Get children moving every day – building in more active breaks, playground games, sports clubs and opportunities for active travel.
-
Develop our teachers’ skills – investing in training so staff feel confident delivering high-quality, inclusive PE.
-
Offer more clubs and competitions – giving children the chance to try new sports, represent the school, and build teamwork skills.
-
Support health and wellbeing – helping children understand how being active supports their mental health, happiness and learning.
- Active learning through Forest School – extending activity beyond sport, with regular Forest School sessions that encourage outdoor learning, teamwork and problem-solving. These sessions give children the chance to explore nature, develop resilience, and stay active in a creative, hands-on way.
-
Plan for the future – buying equipment and resources that will last, and making changes that will benefit pupils for years to come.
How do we know it’s working?
We will:
-
Track children’s participation and progress in PE and sport.
-
Share updates with parents, governors and the wider community.
-
Complete the Government’s online reporting to show how we spend the funding and the difference it makes.
