Welcome to Reception!
Our class saint is Mary: Mother of God.
Saint Mary is known to be "full of grace" as she never sinned and was always faithful to God. Mary was also an important part of God's plan to bring Jesus, Our Saviour, into the world as she showed great courage and said YES to being His mother.

Welcome to our class page.
My name is Miss Morgan and I am the Reception teacher.
I will be in school everyday alongside our fantastic teaching assistant, Miss Miskella.
Class information
Class Dojo is the main communication platform for all things relating to Reception, so please check our Class Story regularly for updates, photos and weekly highlights.
Please feel free to reach out via Class Dojo or speak to a member of our Reception team if you have anything you would like to ask or discuss with us.
Everyday essentials
When coming to school your child needs to have their daily essentials, these are:
-
A drinks bottle. Juice/squash is NOT allowed in class.
- Their book bags, with their reading books inside.
- A jumper/cardigan.
- A coat (This is essential, especially as we get towards the colder months).
Please ensure all of your child's belongings, including their P.E. kit is clearly labelled.
Homework
Homework in Reception will consist of:
- Daily reading (Two school reading books and a sharing book)
- Word pots to develop segmenting and blending.
Please let us know if you would like any support or advice regarding homework.
We also ask that any completed homework or extra home learning is posted to your child's portfolio on Class Dojo.
Reading
The children receive one reading book from school every week from our reading scheme and one sharing book that they choose from the variety in our class.
To begin with your child will be bringing home books with no words. We ask that you encourage your child to dictate what they can see and use their own words to tell the story of the book. .
Reading should be recorded using the BoomReader app. This is checked weekly and if reading is recorded at least five times in a week books will be changed.
Please ensure that you bring your child's book bag into school every day as we do daily 'Drop Everything and Read' sessions where we listen to readers.
Maths
This year we are focusing on mastering the numbers 0-10. We will do lots of work on each specific number so that the children are secure with these before beginning to manipulate them when introduced to calculations.
P.E.
We will have P.E. every Monday & Thursday this term. Monday's session will be taught by Miss Morgan and Thursday's session will be taken by a professional coach from Signature Sports.
On these days, your child will need to wear their P.E. kits into school (black or white shorts, red polo top and black plimsolls).
For your child's safety it is also highly important that long hair is tied back and that no earrings are worn on P.E. days.
Forest School
We will be doing Forest School and outdoor learning in some areas of the curriculum. A message will be sent via Class Dojo giving notice when additional outdoor clothing is required. Wellington boots can be stored on welly rack outside the classroom - we do use these a lot!
